Benefits of Gratitude



As November kicks off the holiday season with feasting and family gatherings, for many this time of year can be tinged with stress, anxiety, sadness, or depression. The simple practice of GRATITUDE can help reduce anxiety and stress surrounding the holidays.  

Here are a few other AMAZING benefits of practicing gratitude:

• Gratitude improves physical health.
• Gratitude improves psychological health.
• Gratitude improves relationships.
• Gratitude improves sleep.
• Gratitude reduces stress, anxiety, and PTSD.
• Gratitude increases longevity, joy, and happiness.

So, how do we practice more gratitude?

• Write a thank-you note. You can make yourself feel happier and nurture relationships by writing a thank-you letter expressing appreciation for someone.

• Thank someone mentally. No time to write a letter? Simply thinking about someone who has done something nice for you, and silently thanking them is a great way to practice gratitude.

• Keep a gratitude journal. Write down the highlights of your day, the moments you've savored, and all the blessings you've received. Keeping a record a loved one's good deeds increases feelings of appreciation and deepens your connection.

• Pray and meditate. Focus on what you're grateful for and allow your heart to expand with joy as you give thanks.
